A tree that is popular with photographers and usually photographed from atop the limestone pavement where it grows.

I've never warmed to this 'populist' composition however, and i can tell you that i've tried it many, many times.

Perhaps i wanted my images of the tree to be different from everyone else's. Perhaps i prefer another ash tree nearby (i do actually).

The truth is that i hit upon this composition some time ago whilst 'under the influence'. I'd completed somewhere in the region of 100 laps of the Malham area that night, to a fantastic Spotify playlist, and by chance i had arrived at this spot just as the dawn arrived. It was a fitting end to the night.

So smitten with the scene was i that i've returned many times since... to watch the day break and to clear the mind. Of course these days i'm sober.

This particular morning i found that the wall had collapsed, it accentuated the outline of the tree. So i sat in the middle of the road, with the tarmac feeling warm beneath me and watched as the cold tones of night were warmed by the morning sun...

I hope you can see why i was so won over by the scene.

We should all have a special place, and a story about how you came to discover it. Hope you enjoyed my special place and my story.

Splendid pink male Galah is posing beautifully for me at the top of an Umbrella Tree. The ripening fruit makes a nice perch for him and tones in with his own colouring. He was only there because I'd come down to take some pics and he'd flown there from the feeder.Broke my own "rule" about fitting in the end of branches, as you can see :-( .

Tree branches (with building in background) shot on a local university campus in San Antonio, Texas as the sun was rising during the early morning hours.

This little tree is 50 yards from my front door so when a blizzard hit this morning, it was easy to jump out and grab this shot

This wonderful tree is in a bend of the Shinma river at Tollymore Forest Park, it impresses with its size and the climate it gives this place. Its wide spread branches give the unique appearance of a fairy tale tree, wonderfully natural blocks the light falling in creating a beautiful illustration of light and shadow ...

HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY.

The beautiful North-Yorkshire Dales.

Often at the bottom you will find a stream, could be small like this one or quite wide!

We had some spring rain and now everything looks so fresh with young green.

The Dales are laced with loose-stone walls.

How Green Was My Valley is a 1939 novel by Richard Llewellyn.

I ADORE and admire trees, their strength but also their flexibility.... I wonder if I was a tree in a previous life, lOLOLOL

Wishing you well and stay safe!

Have a lovely day, M, (*_*)

... one of the displays on show during The Sherwood Art Week at the end of June this year. Made by a knitting group, in Sherwood, Nottingham.

As I've mentioned before, I use the ProCam App (and its 3 second timer) with my iPhone 7, which produces high quality TIFs. I edit these in Lightroom 5 & then Photoshop Elements 11 on my PC. The best tip I've seen online when taking photos with an iPhone is not to zoom in ... get closer by moving your feet, for better quality images.

BTW, the tree is a silver birch.

Abstract shot of lots of Aspen trees on the drive up to Capitol Peak, Colorado!

I was moved by the image of a woman in the bark of this tree...that part is natural, and with the man-made engravings, this tree tells a lovely story!

Imagine if trees gave off wifi signals, we would be planting so many trees.

And we'd probably save the planet too.

Too bad they only produce the oxygen we breathe.
